Introduce yrself, bikes, projects, whatever.

The DN isn't an orthodox bike it's different and largely that is why I bought it...plus it is very easy to manouver inspite of it's nearly 280 kg weight.

I've had it since new and I love the bike it is very comfortable to ride and is learner legal here in ACT I've put an after market screen on it and cut that down as I didn't like the shape, the gear box is quite unique no belts. It's not everyone's cuppa but it catches a lot of looks and so on. Plus it was a good price.

Yeah my wife was always missing out and I felt bad about it so she eventually decided to get her L's just after her 50th...the Piaggio is just a little too much for her just yet so we bought the Bug to do for her as she builds her confidence up and does her Ps she does take the Piaggio out but the slow speed manouvering is a skill she is developing and the smaller scooter is easier.

The DN

They're very interesting looking machines for sure! I finally saw one in the metal going the opposite direction the other day but didn't realise what it was until it was almost past me...

Hi folks,

Maduncle (cliff) here - I generally lurk around the Honda SOHC4 forum, the Honda twins forum and the Netrider forum - and I have one cafe racer on the road and another underway.

Heres one - the 'High Tea Racer'.

CB750F2 supersport, older K series tank, clip on's, wrapped 4 into 2 into 1 race pipes with Lossa muffler, new gauges, keyless start with remote alarm, custom made seat, Hyabusa rear sets, leather panniers, etc, etc. Still having issues with the carbs though - need to work on that.

But I am being distracted by my other project...

CB450K0 black bomber. This one I brought in from Colorado a few months ago. I have a Black Bomber tank for it, and the plan is to build a period style cafe racer. So far I have the bike fully stripped down, the head, jugs and crank cases are off getting blasted and polished, the frame and swing arm are off getting blasted ready for some custom weld work before powder coating (Candy Blue).

Once I get the 450 on the road, I will sell the 750 and start my third project, all I need to do is find a late 70's Goldwing...

Melbourne based, and I get a lot of my specialist bike work done locally through a good network of good people.

That's a real nicely done 750 Cliff! The 450 should be a good 'un too...

The Goldwing... surely not a cafe? :p

Nah, the Goldwing will be a rat bike/bobber - too mean looking when stripped back to be anything else.

Welcome Maduncle I like what you've done with your bike. Be keeping on eye on your next build hope you post pics as you go.

Good to see you over here cliff. Been following your 450 build on NR. Here's a little inspiration for you when you have a spare minute:

There isn't much metal on them Peter there are few on the roads...I have made a bit more progress on the little KV 100

Replaced the bearings in the head set and found some fork boots just the right size so I was able to install the reconditioned forks.

Wiring harness is now back on the bike so I can start hooking things up.

The KV is looking good! Very clean :)

Hey

this is my first attempt at modifying a bike

I chose a Honda cb 250n 1981

It is not yet complete but you can see how it is coming along. so far I have spent a total of $2100 including buying the bike with reg and RWC.

Current list of mods

-Pod Filters
-Custom Battery box/mount
-76 Twin fuel tank
-Custom rear cowling
-Custom rear guards
-Custom side guards
-Custom seat
-Tail light
-Clubman bars

Parts still to Make/Buy

-New guages
-guages mounts
-New indicators

All tins where made from an Old car bonnet that I chopped up.
The leather on the seat was an old leather jacket I picked up from the Op-shop for $20 which I hand sewed

I haven't made any modifications to the frame so that I can sell it as the original bike if I ever chose to

Figured id update with another hello now that if finally got my bike running properly, check my build thread for more info, long story short 4-6 months of slowly chasing the problem ended up being one tiny o-ring in carby on needle seat that seals to carby bowl

So here is as it arrived from parents in mildura after 600km on truck and currently.

Looking forward to meeting up with melbourne members soon now bike is rideable...albeit needing a good tune up.

G'day fellas,
Will be hooking into a slightly shabby 71 CB175 very shortly. Bike has been sitting at work for a few years now gathering a crap mountain over it and being bikeless for a couple of years now (owned a Duc Monster which was sold to pay off debt, the worse reason to sell a bike), I want to make this thing into a little ball tearer (figuratively speaking).

Names Adam, live at Picton NSW, hoping to get ideas and have a few laughs.

Cheers. <thumbs up>

gday fellas.....

lots of work done.....
lots more to come....

cant wait to ride it when its finished with the cafe racer australia crew.....

looks maaad dude. so clean. did you do the pies yourself?
how often do you clean your tank before it's rust ridden to the point where it's just ridiculous. i wanted to keep a bare tank but don't like the idea of sealing it with POR-15 or a clear...

thanks heaps smv...
but i must ask...
pies???
im not sure i know what a pie is..... i eat pies.....hahaha

i was going to seal the tank myself...... but then i thought about getting a matt clear powdercoat over it....
i guy on here suggested spray can lanolin and a rag soaked in it..... wipe it everyday and it will not rust much...

check out my thread if you want to see the progress....

sinbad85 - Ankor Wax is the good stuff to preserve rust at the stage you want it. The hot-rod guys use it a lot for bare metal and rust finishes.

Although I don't know if it will go on over lanolin!

Crazy
