is appliance epoxy or engine paint gas resistive?

Engine paint will be, but only after you cure it with heat. Before that gas will ruin it quickly.

are they? let me know!

if you've got a cheap hvlp gun, I'd go with summit's chassis shield paint, if you're trying to get a good hard coating (like powder) on a part that won't get eaten by gas, that stuff is the best! I did the rims for the spitfire bike we're building with it, and you can't tell it's not powdercoat, super hard too, can't scratch it with a key

hmm ok. i was wondering because i like the glass look they both give that ive used on some other parts, i was wondering how theyd hold up on a gas tank.

probably not great, any urethane topcoat will be gas resistant, you can even do your paint with lacquer paint and just clearcoat with the urethane

I used appliance epoxy on my tank. Looks good. As long as you wipe any gas right off it won't eat a hole right through. Bonus...real cheap.
