Is it a curse?

Been Around the Block
I'm starting to think that my bike is cursed. :(

Went for my first planed pleasure cruise with a friend tonight and three blocks away from home The ol CB360 starts to sputter again.

My buddy and I are convinced it's electrical because when my lights are on (stopped) the idle dips. How bad are the electrics on the 360's? Should they be so bad that while cruising through the city they would cause a problem within three or four blocks?

I don't have a multimeter yet but I had a friend test my battery a few days ago and he said it was a tad low. I've ridden about 16k in the city during the day with no lights since then.

Anyone have ideas? I'll be grabbing a multimeter in the next few days to really check the battery out.

Thanks ahead of time for any advice you guys might have.

The 360 should be able to handle driving with the lights on. The only time mine are off is when I'm starting it. Once the bike is running, i turn my lights on and I've had no problem. I'm only running a 6 ah battery and so far I've had 0 problems with that.

Sounds like it isn't charging correctly.

Kain,

Get a stool, some beer, and some steel wool. Then sit down and pull apart and clean both ends of EVERY electrical connection.

Do not repost until this is done.

On these old bikes a little corrosion can cause huge grief.

okay. I cleaned all the connections I could. Not too many because most are the square clip in type as far as I could see. While doing so I noticed that one of the wires connected to the rectifier was snapped off. I'm not 100% sure what the rectifier does but could this be the problem?

If so... does anyone have a spare one they're willing to part with?
