We had planned for today [ Sunday ], but at the last moment one of the guys had to switch around - so we ended up going yesterday.
As ususal absolutely rammed - took 30 minutes to get from the car park through the underpass into the show.
Weather was excellent and a good display as always. The starting and running of the old racers was something to witness with the sound of unmuffled single meggas and wailing fours and the smell of "R" assaulting the nostrils ....pure rose tinted glasses stuff. 8)
Took some pix for our US and Canadian cousins, I'll download and post in "Loungin" .......
Strangely amongst the vastly overpriced stuff [ £2000 for a basket case BSA B31 ! ] were some real bargains, especially amongs the accessories and tanks in particular. 5 Gall GRP tanks that regularly make £150 - £200 on E-Bay were going for around £75. Didn't find any period parts for Cafe Creme [ that I haven't already got ] but I was tempted by a turn of the century Acetelyne front lamp. It was tin and pewter. Had it been Brass it would have been mine !
TAKE SANDWICHES ........ £4.00 for a Burger and £3.00 for a tray of chips........even Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he robbed folk. :
First time I looked I noticed the Ceriani front brake and decent sweptback pipes. I'm now noticing that rather lager gearbox breather and what frame is that? Is it a Domiracer (original or replica) or maybe a Dresda? Either way it's a proper cafe racer , not one of those Japanese POS.. Now to sit back and watch the fireworks.... ;-)
Just messing with you guys. All my bikes are Japanese.
