"I've seen them sell for $3000" he's full of shit... You can check eBay's completed listings right now and see they fetch +/-$1600 TOPS, in better original condition with the same or less miles.... Maybe there was once a cl90 that sold to someone for that match but not likely and definitely not in that shape... Yeah it has low miles but that is definitely NOT original paint or seat obviously. And from what I know, all 90cc Hondas had silver tanks. Not other colors. I could be wrong there... Personally I would think he could get 800-1000 for it pretty easily in the spring. It just snowed here the other day so local bike sales have took a huge decline in number of bikes on the market and current "market" values.

A little late to the party, but I really hope you didn't buy.
I picked up a 1970 CL70 a month ago for my winter project. Missing only the original engine assembly, taillight, and mirrors... I got it for $75. Should have a fun runner ~$500.
I did get it from a run down trailer home where the kids were playing with empty 2 liters in half burnt up plastic castle
... but hey, Risk=Reward. I've had luck with obscure craigslist searches: "old bike", "nonrunning motorcycle", "broken honda", "70's enduro" etc.
