Oof...

Dummy shocks turned into struts so it's a hardtail?

Yes it is, you found the one thing i am not happy with. It was on the bike when i got it and i am still working with it in order to make me happy . No doubt its after market and they intended for it to mount that way but obviously the plan was better than the finished product. My plan is to have the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock have an extra nut on the head side so the pivot will pivot and still hold the shock. I will get back to you after i test it.

OK, first of all, the problem really isn't with the aesthetics of the mount, it's that you've got a major engine system that is supposed to be solid mounted to the engine and frame, that is instead mounted solid to the engine on one end and to a continuously moving part (the rear of the swingarm) on the other . Unless this is some new exhaust system that has a pivot where the baffle meets the header or something?

I'm guessing Vinrodz Speed Shop doesn't specialize in motorcycles?

Needs a solid mount, in this case most likely to the top shock bolt. Pretty commonly done and can look nice when done properly.

Nice bike!

You can fab up a hanger that runs off of the top shock mount like Tim said.

Or a real simple one that hangs from the frame itself.

You have tons of options man.

Nope, Vintage hot rods and speed parts. My best friend came over who is the Honda expert and said "no way its gonna happen" too and yes it was in a bind! You all are right but i had to try. Test ride soon. Thanks for the help.

"its done" ,or did you buy it this way? what ever you need to mount the muffler to the frame either with a strap/clamp set up or rod/clamp, etc......have you put a lot of miles on it? what is the capacity difference of the oil tank (stock and the new round chopper type?) any foaming when it gets hot?
have fun ................joe

Hey Joe, I did it all except the front rotor drilling. My buddy bent the seat base on his brake at work and his wife sewed the cover up. The tail pipe was going to be mounted on a pivot pin in the front and free moving bracket in the rear but it didnt work. It wanted to move up and down and i built it more thinking back and forth, what ever! So now the pipe is 8 inches shorter and mounted on the frame. I only have about 30 miles on it so far. The oil tank is about the same size as stock (a little smaller) but gladly holds a total oil capacity of 3.7 qts. I was shocked at how high the pressure is from the pump and foaming could be an issue but not yet. I think i am going to build a better vent in the cap soon.

i see you used regular lower eye shocks instead of honda fork end type, did you add a tab on the inside or just use the stock inner flange? the honda oil tanks have a larger volume for that reason and if you look at the return and vents/breathers there is some thought put into them, plus the stock tank is only half full of oil.watch a running bike there is no foaming ,you may have some problems with that smaller tank. where does the return oil exit in the tank, bottom or top? do you have the same size i.d. hoses as stock did? normally those chopper tanks have small oil lines and the honda has some big inside diameter hoses especially on the return (as do all).
