Edit: I didn't realize this was a sort of "dated" build, going back to February. It's still bad ass, and if it hasn't already won BOTM, I stand by the nomination.

I'd like to nominate byrdman76's beautiful '79 CB400T. I have a soft spot for the CB400's and know their frame is not the nicest to work with for a cafe. byrdman did a fantastic job to work with the frame and turn out a real stunner.

Let's take a guess and suggest that it's because they remind you at some level of the pictures you have seen of Morris mags or Astralites or Campag's all of which were usually gold and always on race bikes - so gold wheels look right. I happen to agree with you BTW.
