Re: Final Build underway! Black Bobber 75 Honda CB500T

Woot, you'll be doing the shake down run soon.

Re: Final Build underway! Black Bobber 75 Honda CB500T

Love the look of the Bobber, certainly a motivational build for people starting out.Not been a member on DTT that long and read through your whole thread brilliant :)
1 question, what rear shock absorbers have you used?

Steve.

Re: Final Build underway! Black Bobber 75 Honda CB500T

We got them off of ebay. They were cheap and are 11 inches long. We painted the top covers to blend in. 8)

Ah ok good old eBay. I shall have a look on there see what's available.

Re: Final Build underway! Black Bobber 75 Honda CB500T

Hey guys! We've been working on the wiring (Travis has, I watch!) So we decided for me to start on the seat. This is floral foam and the first try. Still got some sanding left, then the seat mold. ;D
It also shows the rear fender and tank ready for its final paint!
It looks amazing!

Re: Seat Started! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

You guys should buy a chunk of mini cell kayak foam. You can shape it just like floral foam, then cover it and be done.

Re: Seat Started! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

That's a good idea Mike, that stuff is pretty good at absorbing vibrations too.

Re: Seat Started! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

Same with racing seat foam, can buy in various thicknesses and stack to get the desired size. Shapes real well also.

Re: Seat Started! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

We're going to make a mold and use two-part urathane foam. We got some cool vinyl to cover.

Re: Seat Started! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

The countdown is on! ;D
Just wanted to update on what we've been doing. We've been doing the wiring harness, making the connections for the plugs to the new lights. We've (as in Travis) also been updating all the wires to old school cloth red/black. Looks really great.
We got the spray foam mold done for the seat. Now we gotta figure out what we can put on it so it'll hold its shape when we put the 2 part urethane foam in it. We've tried bondo and that worked. Also wanna try fiberglass resin, but don't think we'll have much luck.
After the seat and wiring, we got to paint the tank, rear fender, and battery box. Then its onto my pipes. How loud will she be? 8)

Re: Almost done! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

Just stumbled upon this. Looking good! Didn't know there were 2 Jen's both working on bobbers. Definitely watching this to see where it goes. God knows I love a good bobber.

Re: Almost done! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

How did this turn out? Looks good. Where did you get the rear fender?

Re: Almost done! Black Bobber -75 Honda CB500T

Will we be seeing this in Alabama in a few weeks?

If your asking about the seat, then no, it didn't come out. ??? Gonna go another another option. The rear fender is off of ebay, its from a Yamaha XV750. Its been fabricated to match. He also got the wiring finished but for the coils. He also got the pipes ready to be attached.
