Keihin pilot jet question

M.B Co

Coast to Coast
Looking for a 40-45 pilot for the CV36. Current stock pilot is 35, mine looks like this. Other's only have 2 holes and not 3. I wouldn't think they would work.

Z1 and jetsrus do not have anything that looks similar.

you can't find them anywhere MB I tried already, the other N24B jets i found are 15mm and these are about 21mm and have 3 holes. i bought 2 new ones from Kawasaki dealership and drilled them. get them from them before they run out they only have limited stock on hand.

That's right, maybe that's why I stopped looking...lol, I knew it was for good reason.

I'll check out my local dealer tomorrow when they are open. Dealers/Shops around KC are not open on Mondays.

Compression seems fine
Head looks to be good, valves opening & closing properly, Valves adjusted to spec
Electronics are fine, no shorts etc...no voltage drops
Getting spark at all stages (even ran with inline spark tester)
Plenty of fuel via petcock
Timing is correct, starts up first crank
Idles great with current jets and float level

I told myself it wasn't a carb issue but I always go back to the carbs some way. I have a good selection of bigger jets ordered from Z1, should have them on Wednesday.

Wife approved my $110+ muffler choice. Cone Engineering 12" Shorty Stainless Reverse Cone. Since I've been running with the open 2-1 with collector only, this should help the tuning and drive ability.

try this

If the newer versions are the same dimensions...length, width etc....but have 2 sets of holes and not 3, what issues would that cause?

Went ahead and ordered a selection. Going to try it, never going to know if it works if you never try. It's cheap enough so why not.

The tap I borrowed from a friend wasn't the same thread pitch as the jet. I threw the stock pilot in so I can start it up and test out the new muffler. Guy at work may have one I need so I'll mess it later.

I think several Yamaha and Kawasaki motors used the same jet, I may have a couple.
If you have a CB400T, they were real lean from factory and needed slightly larger pilots with stock airbox
Cross drilling the 'wrong' jet isn't really an option, the holes are between 0.60mm and 0.85mm and need to be the correct size to work

Those holes in the side are not for fuel, but for air. They are called emulsifiers. The aerate the fuel as it enters the carb throat.\, similar to the aerator on a sink faucet.

Less, or smaller holes mean less emulsification. The fuel does not atomize as well.
