Depending on where you live, you will probably need turn signals. Whether or not they are required, I would recommend them. Why get into an avoidable accident because you failed to install turns.
If you are running kick only, and minimalistic lighting, the first thing I would recommend is make sure your charging system is ok, or maybe see if a place like Ricksmotorsportelectrics makes a charging upgrade for your rig. A 4 or 6 amp/hr battery should be all you would need. CCA ratings mean nothing if you aren't running a starter motor.

No, not upgrading the ignition, upgrading the CHARGING system. I see you wrote that you have an updated rec/reg, but on these old bikes, sometimes the charging systems aren't up to the task anymore.
Test the system first. You should see somewhere in the realm of 14-14.5 volts at around 5-6000 rpm. If its much lower than that, then you should look into upgrading.
