Wanted to try my hand at hammering some knee dents into a spare tank. Used a 12oz. nylon/rubber hammer (pictured in last shot) & lots of Bondo "Metal Plastic". Hopefully someone may find these useful for reference.....
A couple rough spots still here & there that I'll leave for the painter.
Thanks for the feedback. It was my first time actually, was pretty easy & also easy to get the two sides the same. Drew the shape on the first side... then traced a paper template from it for the other. Just went slow & took my time... didn't drink too much beer until after I was done.
great, because one would think the metal would shrink some and possibly crack...either way, its a great job none the less and a cheap alternative that looks like it was purchased from a pro!
I did the same thing to the same tank that started out the same color! Looks great man. Are you running clipons? I had to beat some recesses into the front of my tank to clear the clipons at full lock.
I had thought about that. But it will limit your low speed parking lot cornering. It wasn't very hard for me to do the front dents and it was my first time doing something like that. Plus if anything your side dents look cleaner than mine, go for it dude.
Amazing work! I mean it looks like a brand new custom made tank. I was doubting my ability, but I think I may have a shot of not ending up with a piece of scrap metal. Could you give us a bit of a tutorial?
