Also, clutch is taken out. Alternator spins free. Still can't get over 360* rotation.
Nope you have chunks of piston in the engine you need to do it right. Last thing you wanna do is rebuild the engine only to have a piece of piston cause a trans failure. I can get the head and I believe the cylinders off without pulling the engine. Can I get away with leaving it in?
