Anyone know if you can find larger intake boots for the 81 KZ1000? I have a dual carb vm34 setup for a DOHC honda that almost will fit but intake boots are to small.
Does this 'setup' have a common plenum? One that is feed by the two carbs
an then feeds all four cylinders? Or does one carb feed cylinders 1 & 2 and
the other feeds 3 & 4?
1) your carb spacing is 5/16 to wide. The KZ1000 has a carb spacing between
1 & 2 and 3 & 4 of 77mm. 77 x .03937 = 3.031 or 3 3/32 of an in.
2) from the 1930's to 1951 John Deere tractors were 2 cylinders with a single venturi carb.
The crank throws were 90° apart then 270° till the next event. The changes you are planing
for your bike will mirror this. For the 1952 model year they came out with a twin throat
carb and dual port head. Each one feeding their own cylinder. Power increased with this
change and that's with an engine governed at 1350 rpm.
