well about a year ago i got this KZ200 on a trade... it has just been sitting there... so my brother really needed a new project now that his chop and the goldwing are done... so i handed it off... and he and i have spent some time wrenching... it is only a 200 so it is not going to be a distance bike or anything, just going to build a 2 up brat to run back and forth to eachothers house, with knobbies of course

Well gave my brother his early christmas gift... i took almost all the metal off thei bike, took it to the shop, i chopped bobbed the fender, speed holed the chain guard, did a ton of work to the metal... then i blasted it all down and coated it all in satin black... got to the shop at 7pm left at 4:45am ha haha got alot done! just have to do some airbrush work on his tank, but i got that stripped and blasted... was a good day!

for the powder Sean and i had a pound of this satin black that neither he or i liked, seemed to have a shadow in it, and on one or two parts it just did not do it for us, so the powder was just sitting. i figured i may as well just use it up or else we would have to throw it away... on a ton of parts it looks wicked!!!!

so awesome and clean. I'm not a fan of yellow, but I'm stoked to see this whole build.

have to say i thought he was crazy when he told me the colors he wanted to use... but now that they are on there... love them... still trying to decide if i am going to do the tank in satin black, and to the air brush work in yellow or the tank in yellow and the airbrush work in black then flat clear the whole thing... any thoughts? i am going to skull the whole tank

small skulls or large skulls? If a large skull I would paint the tank black and do the details with yellow, if small then yellow tank and black skulls, it would just be easier that way.

well my plan is to do a big skull in the middle of the tank on top, i think i am going to do the tank in black and do the skull in yellow,
then i will do a 2 inch strip around the whole bottom of the tank in yellow, i will then shoot the smaller skulls and air brush work in that strip in flat black or a satin black all the way around, a little bit of shading and then match that on the side covers... least that is the plan for now :)

Joe once it warms up I want to come hang with you for a month and be your shop monkey and just watch you work. Excellent stuff. Plus you seem like you're always having a good time!

hahaha doors always open! there is always a bike to ride and a boat to go out on in the summer months man! come on and hang out

man i tell ya, satin black is hard to photograph... got the base coat on the tank... i laid it in powder instead of paint so that we can decide to change the graphics and remove them without harming the base coat (powder is chemical resistant) but who knows satin powder can be picky wiht showing stains if i was to try and remove paint from it. so we will prob just airbrush the graphics and clal it a ball... also blasted about 23 parts for my harley while i was working in there... did not get time to lay powder though, new shop is awesome! just awesome... love all the room and all the new toys (tools)

Hey nice project. Glad to see a fellow Kz200 rider getting stuff done. I can't find engine parts mostly the head, otherwise I'd have a project like this done by now. Looking good!

yes sir! i have a head gasket to replace, but that was pretty cheap to find... other than that there is no info on these little suckers i was hoping to get lucky and find the jet and setting combo we would need to run a pod on this instead of the air box, no such luck only nightmare tune stories :)

had some time this afternoon so i finished my brohters tank and shocks

done
*the stock badges where in like NEW condition, since that is so rare to find we decided to leave them, not paint them or nothing, just leave them as is for a bit of original flavor
I think it was a good choice
(if we do paint them the white will go yellow and nothing else)

well i was not 100% that i liked how it came out, so i redid it... this time it is final, cleared and all, did a 2 tone with it instead, pics are a bit wacked, i still have to blend the edges but i have to give the clear 72 hours before i can blend it in... looks good though the satin clear made a big dif to give it depth

Looking great Joe. I don't come to the bob/chop section as much so this is the first I have seen of this. Clean as usual...

the paint is still a bit soft this morning but has had 20 hours to cure... the edge is going to clean up really nice to the point where it vanishes!!!!

ya i have never really been either... but with this small of a bike, and it being a house hopper he wanted to go out of the box (hense the yellow and black) we where laughing one night and called it a freak show... kind of stuck... will prob air brush that and some clowns on the side cover if we use them

wait till you see the exhaust. about done with it, just need to wrap the upper part of the pipe and that is done as well... coated it to match the rest of the parts... but did a fade so i could wrap the upper bend of the pipe
