It took me 4 years (finishing school, moving, changing careers, having kid all drag out the build), but my 1976 Kawasaki KZ400 Bobber is finally finished. Built to look like its been parked in a barn for the past 30 years; however its been totally gone through and rebuild.
Run-down on build:
95** miles on original motor.
1970's aftermarket pipes
Custom built single carb intake (allows easy, low maintenance)
New Keihin Flat Slide Carburetor (jetted for pipe)
DYNA coil with upgraded braided plug wires
New custom designed wiring harness with new battery, bare-bones (no signals or extra wiring)
Still runs kick and electric start
Braided Stainless Brake line
Newer late model master cylinder
Custom hardtail rear built for factory main loop (keeps stock neck, motor mounts, steering geometry)
Lowered 3 inches
Stretched 3.5 inches
Forks rebuilt- new seals, heavier weight oil, lowered.
Custom Z-Bars
Sprung Chopper style seat
Sportster Peanut tank with old-school filler
Headlight brush guard
Side-mount tail light
Tool-bag storage
I'm sure tons of stuff I'm forgetting. Bike runs great and handles amazingly well (always surprised me how well it handles)
Here is how she started out:
My Hardtail kit
Mid-build
