Finally have a chance to sit down & post some pics. Made it to the DOL & picked up a trip permit good for 3 days. Friday night, maiden voyage kz running great until I put gas in it & rolled downhill, gas pouring out front of the gas cap onto hot headers, Looks like p/o used a piece of foam as a gasket. A rubber washer from a box of tank parts fixed the leak, but he Rustoleum clear was shot:
No big deal, rattle can it again while I wait for the plate & title in the mail. Saturday I made another shakedown run to Seward Park,
Saturday night was the annual Cretins TT, to raise $ for their race team. They map out a lap of W. Seattle & send out 2 riders, 1 fast 1 slow & average the 2 times, that is the target time. Fellow DTT member CLT750 & I went out, since I don't know that area well I played try to keep up w/ his CB750 & had a blast, kz still running great. I was 3rd closest, & Curt was 2nd closest (thanks again Curt)
Sunday was the Cretins Mods & Rockers ride. This was my second year & one of my favorite rides of the year & spent all week getting the kz ready. Despite 90 degree heat, had a great time, figure 120-130 bikes & scooters made it . Rode to the meeting w/ a couple friends, 1 on a CB400f that crapped out 2 blocks from the shop. Back to the shop & he's on our buddy's CB550 & he's on his chopper:
Almost to the clubhouse & the chopper snaps a mounting bracket for the front brake on some train tracks.
no big deal, just remove it & run rear only. BTW I wound up pushing it to get it started by the end of the day, no problems whatsoever on the kz.
I like it alot for hot days & around town, on the highway lots of wind noise though, Very light & I got it cheap on eBay brand new after seeing one in a mag & trying one on at a local shop, Still have my eye out for a Bandit tho!
