leather jacket cut into a seat?-also paint opinion

Ok, so I just got my bike running how it is supposed to run...now to the paint and seat. When I first rode this bike, my ass vibrated so bad I could barely walk when i was done driving it! Also, the handlebars vibrated pretty bad, so I stuck caulk in them to hopefully decrease the vibration. So, I am definitely going to have to work with some foam ideas :( But, I was thinking, I have a few leather jackets lying around that I don't wear...has anyone ever cut the jacket for a nice leather cafe seat? Final question...right now the bike is silver, and I was thinking about doing silver again, but I also think cream would look good with the bike. What do you guys think? Oh, and thanks to white orbs for shipping out some new Honda-Norton style black decals..I cannot wait to get them...here is a pic of the bike taken a few months ago, since then I have gotten rid of the rear sets and went back to the stock footpegs and put some mufflers on as well

i also got a rear tailight from dimecity as well as their waffle grips. The WAFFLE GRIPS ARE SWEEEET! They remind me of when I was a kid zipping around on the z50 haha

Great looking bike! I love the look of old patina leather, I was thinking of doing it for my bike seat also!-RD

Well, I am a fan of bright colors on racers, but if I had to pick between the 2 colors I would say go with the cream over the silver. 1. becuase you already have as silver, 2. the cream might bring out a more vintage feel, and 3. cream will bring out the black and details of the rest of the bike better.

Thanks man, I was leaning for the cream as well. Bright colors are sweet, but I am going for the vintage feel on this bike

Leather is leather and the older and more broken in the better.

Do cream with silver flake. Would look awesome.

yeah Tim, that is actually starting to grow on me. Cream with silver flake sounds sweeet!! Do you know of any links where I could buy that type of paint, or do you have to buy the silver flakes and the cream separately? The local paint shop here only offers a few standard colors and not many options. Thanks man!

Now you're beyond me. Only thing I can offer up is House of Kolor. Lots of guys on the board are good with paint though and can likely set you straight.

BTW when I said cream with silver flake, what I meant was a 2 tone paint job. Solid cream/off white with silver flake as a 2nd color. Not cream with silver flake mixed in, although who knows - never seen a cream flake paint job :)

I made a seat cover out of an old leather coat on my sr250. It was really supple leather, not the sort of thing that you'd ever use to protect you from the road or anything, and i didn't deal with stiching panels to make it a perfect fit or anything, but i was pretty happy with the results:

Cheers man! All i used was a decent quality staple gun (luckily the seat pan is plastic, not sure how you'd do it with a metal pan), and pulled the leather pretty tight in a couple of directions, clamped it, and went around with the stapler, pulling the area to be stapled a little tighter, then staple. Didn't take me more than a few hours...
