Leather Weld

There's a Tandy Leather store right by my house so I may stop in to check it out and ask their opinion as well. I'm looking to attach my new DTT patch once it arrives in the mail onto my new leather jacket. My wife is giving me the evil eye about sending leather through her sewing machine which is strictly for quilting. :

What do you guys think?

Dont use her machine for that... Leather is thicker and tougher than quilts. You need a different needle too. If there is a leather store next to your house, can they sew them on for you? Should be cheep.

Stopped by the leather store and sure enough he told me no go on the leather weld. He did however give the me the number of a good local shoe repair place that does most of the local bike clubs patches. Now I just need to take out the armor and wait for my patch in the mail.

Represto hand sews this patches with white wax dental floss and it really looks cool!!..

I wound up finding a shoe repair place close to home that's charging me $5 to sew the new patch on. ;D I thought I'd help by removing the armor from the shoulder and elbow on that sleeve only to discover there's yet another layer of padding sewn into the leather at the should and sleeve so I guess I'm doubly armored. I pointed out the pockets for the armor and asked that he make sure not to sew into them so I could put the armor back in. I dropped it off today and pick it up on thursday.
