LED's

hello i'm looking for some small LED lights to replace the small indicator lights for oil, neutral, left, right, and high beam. any suggestions?

thanks

I got these sealed led's from Neutron Electronics. Look for an industrial electronics supplier - they will likely have the same style. Marine suppliers have similar units.

While we are on the subject of LED's... I got some LED signals to put on my bike, replacing the old huge globes. But.... they don't blink. I think I remember someone saying that I would need to use a different flasher relay, or modify mine.
Anyone have any tips on that? Otherwise, I am putting the old globes back on.

LED's don't draw enough juice to make the relay work. If you don't want to buy a digital relay or similar, you could hook a resistor in parallel with the LEDs. You'll probably have to try a few different resistances before you get it right. I would use ones rated for 10w. Try starting with 50ohm.

Roustabout,

I'm not super familair with the electronics of my bike. I want my dash to look like yours for the LED's. Which ones did you use? Were they easy to wire up? Yours look great

Thanks!

The LEDs I used were 12V units like the one below. They are sealed. 2 leads - polarity doesn't matter. I just cut the old lights out of the dash wiring harness and soldered the LEDs in their place - pretty simple. My bike's dash had positive and negative leads for each light but your bike might have one positive lead to each light and a common ground. LEDs like these are great because you don't have to worry about mounting light sockets and covers.

Cool thanks for the information. I currently have LED lights in the panel but they are not held down and look ghetto. I need something smaller and better looking.

I believe mine has posi and neg leads to run into.

I hope so!

thanks

if you are replacing a stock honda taillight with , say, a trailer LED brake light is it just plug and go? or do you need to add resistors or anything? just get one that has the same number of wires? i want to get that huge thing off of there

These guys sell all sorts of LED replacement bulbs, LED strips, etc etc. I put them in my instrument cluster because it's such a bitch to get in there and replace the bulbs that I never want to have to do it again.

Also, if your signals don't flash, you need to get an electronic flasher. They sell 'em at any parts store like Autozone, et al. They're not too expensive, and you don't have to worry about them wearing out like you do with the old style.

The brake light is a straight swap - no worries. Just make sure it is a dual running/brake light. You only need to worry about circuit modification with indicators.

A 10ohm, 10W resistor in the left and ride side of the turn signals, installed in parallel after the switch should do the trick.
I picked up this picture from the Knucklebuster website.
