Leper Messiah-1978 CB750: re-intro

@PHeller Yeah, the ears were thrown on there as an afterthought when I went to the smaller headlight. I just picked up some of these:

With plans to redrill them to pull in the headlight close like a proper Japanese bobber:

I looked at quite a few different ears and was disatisfied with the length of many of them. They are just wayyy too long (that's what she said)!

There was a member on here who sold machined headlight ears that were considerably smaller and put the headlight closer to the fork tubes.

I just ended up going with a bottom mount headlight.

@PHeller I thought about the bottom mount option, but this one was a royal pain to get working correctly, so I feel attached to it ;)

So here's what I came up with. The generic ears were super long, so I made some cardboard templates and test fitted the headlight to the forks. Then I used an angle grinder (the big kind, not the nifty air-type) and drill and several hours of shaping and cutting 2 inches off later:

Technically, I could have pulled the light in a little closer, but the damn cables and assorted wires didn't leave much room. I hate the f#ckin rat's nest of wiring the CB750 has, especially since I'm using only the start/kill on the throttle side and horn/ hi-lo on the clutch side. Definitely needs some pairing down, but it's too damn hot now. Maybe this winter...

Your bike looks awesome. Gives good inspiration for my build once I get around to it.

Better pic of the new ears. Just ordered a trashed front fender so I can drill out the brace and run fender less in the summer:
