Light Horse

The Ozzies will know of the Light Horse and admire them with pride and protect their memory vehemently ;) But for the rest of the world this term has little meaning. I won't try to explain their story to you as i won't do them justice, but it is suffice to say they were some of the bravest men to fight in the two great wars. We shall remember them.

So why the Light Horse? We'll i've been given another project! not a 450 this time but a 500T and the theme for this one is going to be light weight and hight Horse power, hence Light Horse ;D

So in the beginning a freebe

I swapped this for a fuel tap (pet cock) and as you can see their is little left to resemble a complete bike, GREAT! some PO ::) had started to do some "work" on the frame, cutting off the passenger peg brackets and other small brackets. There is just an empty engine case with a near perfect crank lurking inside ;D doesn't sound to good does it? :D but to me this is perfect, as the rest of the parts i have...and as this will be heavily modded engine the cases and crank are about the only parts i really needed.

Stay tuned as this will take about 18 months to finish but will be a road of learning for my mates and I.

Short list of mods
remove section of the frame and make the engine a stressed member
re-phased crank to 270/90 deg and lightened/knife edged
CB450 head with the works, courtesy of Terry Hansen
two separate oiling systems one for the top end and one for the crank/gearbox
enlarged sump
heavily fined lower crankcase
Fuel injection
my own ignition and engine management components
custom sleeves and pistons (600 plus cc)
external oil filter/cooler
and the usually strange and wonderful as i think of them

Enjoy
