Been Around the Block
To illustrate how little I know, I went to swap the controls from my old bars to the new ones and discovered the built in throttle on the cb125.
I ordered a new throttle tube and figured I'd chop off the throttle bits on the original controls and just bump them up against the new throttle assembly. The internally routed wires are a pain to yank out, and it seemed like i'd have to cut the bars open to get them out. I said what the heck and just ordered an all-functions control from dime city with some new levers.
What I didn't think about was the light switches. The rear drum has a mechanical switch mounted at the drum, so I only need to figure out the front brake, correct? Not in the same town as the bike so I can't just go look. I read on another thread that using the same type of rear drum switch for the front mechanical disc may work, but there was no conclusive post. Has anyone done this?
