I’m new to Café Race bikes so excuse my ignorance.
The long rectangle type gas tank (see attachment), is there a specific name for this style of tank?
I want to fabricate one out of aluminum, anyone have any AutoCAD drawings or plans, measurements etc. for this type of tank?
I found a company on the net that makes them for $750USD, which is more than I want to spend. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce

What size bike are you working on? People call these breadboxes etc. The 1975-77 or so Honda CB750F tank is shaped kind of like this.

Google CR750 for some images of what you might be looking for. I've never seen CAD drawings of anything though.

I've got a 71 CB350, I'll check out the CR750, any idea if they would fit?
Yes, I've seen ohiocaferacers.com, their tanks are AWESOME, I just can't justify $750USD + shipping for one part of this bike.
I can get the material cheep and have a buddy weld it, just need a plan!
Thanks,

Here's a place in the UK that sells all sorts of goodies, including tanks. The cheapest option seems to be the fibreglass one at 130 pounds ($270 or so). If you find plans out there, go for making your own, and heck, make 10 of them and sell off the extras. Don't know if you'll find any plans though - you might have to carve something up to get a basic shape.

Nice, thanks, thats not a bad price at all.
I've got my stock tank so I can work off that (some measurements), I'll see what I can come up with, do one out of cardboard and go from there.
