Hey everyone.

So, 3 years in the making, my 1980 Honda CX500 Deluxe is (from what i can see) ready to ride. Lots of work went into it - a cx500 guru recommended coming by here to see if anyone is in my area is able to check out the bike before I take it out to ride. I am in Monmouth county, a minute from Sandy hook beach. I see a bit of NJ/NY riders on here.

Please let me know if anyone is available. Willing to compensate too.

You can do it yourself. Start from front to back and with a torque wrench and reg wrenchs and check all the nuts and bolts are properly torqued and tightened. Then check that the cables are all free and clear of moving parts, operate smooth with Handles at full lock etc. tire pressure is set, oil in engine, coolant level good, rear drive has grease in shaft and oil in hub. Spin wheels and apply brakes then spin again to make sure they are not binding..... Start it up and take it slow looking for odd noises etc, if all checks out pick up the pace a bit and enjoy. All that being said, someone here should not have a problem coming by and helping you the first time. I just typed that out in case no one else replies. I am a little to far away or I'd do it for you.

Cheers

Thanks man. I've done all of that, just hoping to get a physical pair of eyes on it...I don't know of any other riders/friends in my area. but thanks

Cool I understand completely. A fresh set if eyes can pick out something obvious you can't see when you are the one who built it.

Gonna try and get out your way on my Honda, it's been in the garage since Sandy and it's due for a nice run down Navesink River Road (been riding the Triumph a lot lately). I know what you mean by needing fresh eyes.
