Lost a fellow rider last night

Shermanator86

Big guy on a little bike
A 72 year old backed her van out into the road in front of him. 22 years old and one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet, don't know anyone that would have had anything bad to say about the guy. He had just got engaged in June. Still in shock that he is gone, wasn't the closest to him but a lot of my close friends were and I know his extended family well.

Here is the small new clip from this morning

JOHNSON TOWNSHIP - A van backed into the path of a motorcycle Tuesday evening, killing a Howe man.
22-year-old Chase Scott died on County Road 450 South near 4170 East at 7:13 p-m.
LaGrange County Sheriff's deputies say Scott died when a van driven by 72-year-old Lois Boker of Sturgis backed out of a driveway and didn't see the motorcycle.
Scott attempted to stop the cycle and laid it down but he suffered severe head trauma when struck the back of the van.
State Police, LaGrange and Wolcottville Police, the county coroner, Johnson Township firefighters and medics all assisted at the scene.

Don't know if he was wearing a helmet or not

RIP -

too young to die... when people hear that your on you motorcycle, they always say be careful... thing is you can never be too careful because its always the other person who causes the accident. so next time someone tells you to be careful, tell them the same. rip

Really sorry to hear about your loss Sherm. My sincere sympathies to you and your friends.

I'm engaged as well, and I just can't imagine what that poor girl is feeling right now. I hate hearing about this. My heart goes out to his family.

Nothing can really be said to ease the pain here, but I will keep you and the family in my thoughts as well. RIP Chase.

Thanks for the thoughts, I just can't imagine what the family is going through right now. His cousin who was 27 passed a few months back and now this, they where both only children of two sisters. They were the only grand children of their family.
No details of if he had a helmet on or not, I just got this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach as I saw him at the gas station the other day riding without one. I was going to give him shit about not wearing one but thought "he's a grown man, he can make his own choice." Wish I would have at least said something now.

Don't think about it like that man, if he was without a helmet, he's certainly heard it before. It's a terrible tragedy, but not at all on you.
