lowering front forks on a cb250n

This is my first build and mechanically I'm a bit of a noob so apologies in advance if I a) sound clueless and b) make no sense. I have just completed a new seat loop and along with this the rear sits a little lower than stock or so it seems. My question is. If so am I able lower the front forks through the triple? The holes in the top yoke seem to be smaller than the outside diameter of the forks so they sit under the yoke. Am i able to cut these out to the same outside diameter to allow the forks to slip through. I plan to have another sleeve to slide over the fork to sit between the yoke and the bottom of the triple stop the fork sliding up if its possible. Thanks for my putting up with my ignorance and bullsh*t.

Basically...no
If you have the old style top clamp you cant slide the forks through.
You can easily lower the forks internally. Just search for fork lowering, its fairly simple.

Sonic's right, No!

I've done a fair few of these with the pressed steel top tree and modifying it in anyway to allow the forks to move inside it would be very dangerous and simply wouldn't work. You have two options, as Sonic suggested you can lower the front end by modifying the internals of the forks, lots of info on here about that. Or you can replace the top tree with a clamping type from another CB or CX that has the right dimensions. You'll need to measure carefully and check specs as they can differ from country to country. In Australia on the CB250n/400n, I use a CX500 clamp with the 33mm forks.

I got a cx500 top yoke. Seems the stem is too short or the yoke clamp is too thick. The thread sits flush through the yoke and wont allow for the top nut to be placed on. Any suggestions?

Pictures please....as I'm wanting to lower mine too, and am looking for info too.

Course my bike is strung out through the garage and shed in the back yard.

I am at the same place with my 250n. namnam did you even get a cx500 top triple to fit? I can see the difference between a cb250n top triple and a cx500. Just wondering if you can just machine out the back of the cx500 where fits to the stem for it to slide further in so the nut can be put on? I'm wanting to buy a used top triple off ebay, but don't wanna waste my money if its not going to work.

Lowering the front forks is usually a bad idea. It will change rake and trail and make the handing twitchy. It also lessens ground clearance and may start scraping pipes and parts in aggressive cornering. Ride the bike with stock set up for awhile before you lower the forks and them see if you still like the handling characteristics.
When you put the rear hoop on did you change the upper shock mount location? If not how did the back get lower?
