So I have this exhaust for my CB, and for the longest time I was pretty content with the baffle being in it. Not only because it sounded pretty decent, but because it was totally stuck in there. Well, about a week ago, I set out to get the baffle out. It took me putting vice grips on the baffle, and hammering against the pliers with a dead-blow to get it out, just a real tight press fit.
Has anyone heard a CB350 with an uncorked MAC? If you haven't, go find someone who has one, and go listen. Absolutely one of the most gnarly things I've ever heard. It actually has that 'bark' to it, very surprising out of such a small mill. But, keep in mind, it is incredibly loud...incredibly...loud.
So, out of respect to my roommates, I set out to quiet it down a little, so I took the baffle, cut it in two, and put one side back in. Now, not only do I miss the sound, but it sounds sort of weezy and sad. Anybody have any suggestions on how to quiet this puppy down without losing the tone? I have thought about putting a reverse cone in the megaphone area, to see if I can suppress the sound, but wanted to get some ideas before I do anything drastic..
