Make a slow bike fast - KZ750 Twin

I think your choices in carbs would be legal with WERA. They are superbike rules and only specify that the carb type has to have been available prior to the cut-off date. The basic principle of the FCR is that it is a flat slide not round or oval. I was racing flat slide carbs in the early 80's. I also don't think anybody in the vintage classes in WERA would protest. AHRMA on the other hand is very specific about flat slide carbs and you probably would get protested.

These were around in the 80's ???? !!!!!

Yep and twin plug heads - had them on my various Triumph twins.

Maybe not the Nitrous though.

I had a pair of 30mm lectrons on my cb350 race bike in about 1982. They were as flatslide as you can get, and boy would they stick wide open in the rain.

thats good to know. I have heard that the guys donig vintage racing with WERA are pretty relaxed.

i think there "relaxed" because of the low vintage race turnouts. of the 15 races i did with wera in 2020 (V4,5, 6LW) i was the only one on the grid in 12 of them.

hmmm. maybe it should be just a track bike. in that instnce Id really love to do a USD fork purely because i have never done it.

no and no, just race, other then wera theres ahrma, uscra. putting usd forks on it means it will never see a vintage grid. do you really want to do track days with that bike with nothing but modern bikes? wont be fun. get on the track already.

carbs for Bonneville 900, reduced the spacing by about a 1/2" to fit port spacing of KZ750. I also turned new spigots to fit in the stock carb boots, blocked off TPS, etc... lots of fiddly little bits. I still need to port match the carb boots to my ported head.

This is where the “poor financial decisions” portion of this build comes in to play. Custom color on the wheels.
