MB5.. little Stinker

What jets are you planning on using? I just checked with my local Honda dealer to order in two jets (110 and 112) and he wasn't able to get the 110 as the part number (99101-166-1100) was not found in the Honda Canada site. Thinking it may be because the NSR50 wasn't sold in Canada. Trying to figure out my options so I thought I'd see what you're using.

I ordered 110 &112.5 from my local guy ,,still waiting. ::)
this may help

What carb are you using Jim? Found this pic on the web and think I'll eventually go this way with the bike, when I get to it. lol

Hey John im siting on the fence for a seat type. my first 'vision' was just to cover seat area on the tank with some 'peel and stick' foam .. but i saw this seat cover on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-MB5-Seat-Cover-MB50-Quilted-Piping-W-E-/150738062190?_trksid=p3286.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5869568837340892433
I a can get it in red, my seat base and foam are in good shape. ithink the red will look good on top of the silver That pic has given me the nudge lol deff a goal worth going for.
im workin with a stock carb i think ::) can't see any I.D. when i get the bike running may be i wiil think big bor kit etc ;)

Got a few things done  Got the electrics done I think??? Batt hooked up Neutral light comes on, Head light didn't.. Pulled it apart scratched my head, dont no what im looking for ??? finally read the book ,apparantly lights dont come on till the motors running.
Painted the foot peggs HerrDeacon sent me (thanks again) the new rubber for them arrived the same day.Got a after market rear light lens from 'Treatland' finally got all cables 2 where from my local Honda dealer the other to where from http://www.wemoto.com/ I picked up a new drive chain to-day when i unwrapped it there was no frakin joining link wtf

Looking good Jim, mine is about 75% in pieces. All bits have come in from the States I ordered. Will pull the motor this week and oil tank. Think I will plumb the oil tank as an aux. fuel cell and premix at 40:1 and block off the oil pump drive area. Are those Tomos handlebars you installed upside down... think I may have a set of those around here. If not I have a cafe set from a previous Puch build that I may use. I have a 19mm clone carb I am changing to also when the kit is massaged and installed. Will use existing MT carb box and install a K&N cone filter inside it and then put battery back in its standard spot.
Keep those pics coming, love see them

Hi John, thanks they are some clubmans i got in some wheelin and dealin 'lol'
Was thinkin going premix its not like i will be goin any long distance .
I guess this warm weather has got you into the Shed. looking forward to pics of your Rebuild .. will you be going to the CVMG Paris fathers day swap wkend?? Im planing on taking the 'little stinker'

Will ride up on the Burgman or Kawi depending on my feelings that day (Friday). BSA buddy wants me to spend the week end and bring the RV. Decisions....... then again may be in Pennsylvania. lol
You know I haven't taken a picture yet! Will when I get to the bare frame and remove the electrics.

Great thread guys! I too have an MB5 up here in Seattle. It's kitted (70cc) with a Proma Pipe, 21mm PHBG carb (105 main) and is over geared at 16-43 (the P.O was ambitious lol, stock was 13-45) I have a new set of sprockets and chain for it that will be 14-43, a much more manageable gear ratio for the little beastie. Michelin Gazelles will arrive tomorrow, and then I'll do the gear and tire swap at the same time. I've attached a pic of my bike. Heere's hoping there will be more lively MB5/MB8/MBX?Kawi AR80 discussion around here soon!

I am in the process of doing the motor (70cc) and would like to know who has removed the 2 T oil pump and how you went about fitting a block off plate. Is there a way to remove the drive from the oil pump then reinstall. Don't really want to grind it off and destroy the pump.
I am also at the stage of painting the frame etc. Going to be silver instead of the Honda red. Tank will be red as original minus the hideous decal. Will look for a small winged H decal for each side. Club man bars when done.

JJ, you need to get your own thread started for your build, would love to see your progress on the bike. Never get too much MB5 ;D ;D

Nice score on the headlights intrudin.

Working on a photo bucket but not much in it yet.

Came across these oil block off plates, made in Niagara for $25CAD with hardware. Clear or black anodized finish. tzracerATgmailDOTcom

Bike is completely stripped to the bare bones now and am in the process of refinishing frame. Going with a silver motif there. Slow and sure but the damn weather has changed for the worse so have to wait to spray. Have not broken into the motor yet as I will leave that till the last.

jj where did you get the sealed beam, does it fit in the OEM bucket??? that blocker plate looks good ;) you got me thinkin 8)

Went to the local NAPA and had to order the 35/35 bulb by the number H5006... approx 11 bucks CAD. The bucket you remove the angle adjusting screw/spring setup and centre the bulb in the chrome ring. Bend the mounting tabs over to lock the bulb in place. The tits on the bulb need to be centred on the ring and bulb oriented up. Clipped old OEM leads of the old bulb and put stak-ons on them and connected to the bulbs spades. Had to bend the contacts over to fit in the bucket. Fasten the 2 machine screws from the bucket to the headlight ring. Done!
