I am considering buying a Benelli Mojave tank on ebay for a XS 650 cafe project. Has anyone tried fitting one to the XS? Where in the heck do you find a petcock or gas cap for one? I see these tanks for sale all the time on ebay and I don't ever recall seeing one with petcock or cap.

I don't know about fitting it to an XS, but you can get the Pet cocks and gas cap from ebayer nosbysteve. He might not have any auctions for them, but if you send him a message he'll get you one.

Petcock is going to be some weird Euro threading (expensive). Best bet would be to pick up and weld in new bungs and run a stock Harley threading. The gas cap cost me half as much as the tank ($50) which I found pretty ridiculous. But I must say, it is truly stunning to look at.

Im am in the process of mocking mine on a tx650...fits with the stock seat depending on how you mount it (witch will most likely involve welding to the bottom)

I just finished an XS with a Benelli tank, fit well, had enough room in the tunnel to mount all electric & a small battery. I love the huge tunnels on those tanks.

I meant to add, yes the gas caps are on ebay, I thin about 35.00. They are nice caps to with some style. The Petcocks, Ive always used npt threaded fittings in brass, never a problem. The black on above is all ace hardware. elbow, petcock, & nipple.


If you dont want to pop for a cap, you can be creative. Heres another of the same tank I played with yesterday some.

Teach me your ways Jeff! I am working on a Mojave tank and am having troubles finding a gas cap that will fit it. Also haven't even started messin' with the petcock...no clue what your ref above. Any and all help is appreciated.
