i have an idea of what i want to build but never been a fan if the cafe racer rear seat with the tank that i have.
i want something that looks like its been designed but the person that made the bike i may change my mind but then again i might not .
some are going to say its not a cafe racer with this seat but hey ho.

The seat looks fine to me as a Cafe Racer.

The Duke 450SS seat also suits Guzzis and is the correct period.

So what if it's not a cafe racer without the "standard" bum stop seat, you are building the bike you want not what other people expect. I totally agree with you on this issue. Guzzi's can make nice custom bikes if you plan it right.

The V50 is already 80% a cafe racer anyway. The 80s v50 Monza was a really pretty bike in red and black. I lusted after them as a kid, but they are rare.
Personally, I would avoid the black pipe wrap. It's become a cliche.

To me, Guzzi got it 100% right with the 78 lemans.

They made a V50 and a V50 Monza.

The Monza had bigger carbs and valves. They sold very few in US. They were very light bikes, under 360lbs.
The linked brakes were novel, the geometry made them handle like bigger bikes at speed.

Very Neat! I love the fact that yer building a Guzzi. Such neat bikes. I usually pit next to a guy who races an ol' guzzi 850. He loves it!
I'd love to do a mild build on one someday, for an everyday cruiser. Keep up the good work, cant wait to see the finished product!

If only I was 100lbs lighter / smaller - then I WOULD build a V50 !

Here's my Lemon in mock up 3/4 through [ now sadly sold on ].

I did relent on the "Redness" [ It WAS called "Simply Red" ] - stainless exhaust and stainless Contis. Oh yes, and the seat was positioned correctly with no gap between the seat and top tube ! Note the 450SS seat.

wasnt quite sure .. are the lights to big , will the badges look ok ? right lets try .. well the result is ....

I would set the lights into the seat bubble, the diameter is fine.

I would set the "III" just below and offset from the V50 -the badges look great on the tail.

I like the badges inline myself but thats just me ;) I would definately mount those lights so that they are just flush with the end of the tail though. Nice work :)

I was thinking mimicking the original badge placement, but either way looks good.

Personally, I would avoid LEDs on a classic bike. These days, they seem to be all over eBay for kids to put on super-sports bikes (get off my lawn, etc,)

bit more like this?.. finger prints an all.

I'd prefer it offset like that.
I'd also think it'd be cool to do some bling paint scheme on these badges. They'd really stand out on your black-on-black bike.
Remove the fingerprints.

Oh dear...has this become an ex-project now? Was interested in how this was shaping up as I am building my own V50 brat/cafe/tracker.
