Motorcycle USB Phone Charger

This is nice Matt, but I'm wondering where you plug your phone in, as in whrer is the plug coming out?

Yessir. That's correct.
My newer design uses a small (around two inches) USB cable that extends from the unit. This change helps with water resistance and also looks a bit cleaner, in my opinion.

If I remember correctly, there are two different power busses in a computer: a 12v bus and a 5v buss. It is this 5v buss that runs through the usb ports and supplies power to external devices, if needed. This is why you can charge your phone, your MP3 player, etc., via your pc. As a result, 5v power has become a standard in most electronic devices that interface with a pc via usb.

It actually even predates that. +5V has been the "high" signal in digital electronics since before I was born.

Why not use a battery tender cigarette lighter adapter with a usb plug. Then you can use it for other things also, like a tire pump. This is what I use.

Battery tender plug is permanently hooked up to my battery, and when the battery tender isn't plugged in, the cigarette lighters adapter with USB plug is.

Bump. You've learneded me once this week, I'm looking for another serving.

Right on, Kop. I have new coils and carbs, but no engine. I'll watch the valve clearance.

I keep forgetting to take a picture of my setup. It's really simple and costs around $10.

OK... new design is complete. This one include a digital voltmeter that gives a readout of the current voltage being supplied by your battery or charging system.

That is seriously cool Matt. Love the built in voltmeter...talk about practical!

$30 for the one with the voltmeter. $20 without.
This includes the price of shipping to the lower 48. If you're in Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, or any of the US territories the price will be an extra $5 to cover shipping. +$10 for any other international shipping.

Ahhhhh I didn't see that in the video haha looked like 1 battery I thought maybe some fancy 24 volt job (dead haha)

OK... I've finished up another design. This one is capable of handling 3A on paper, probably closer to 2.5 in reality. This means you can run your more power-hungry mobile devices such as the iPad and Galaxy Note. Price is $25 without a built-in voltmeter or $35 with one. This cost includes shipping within the US. Foreign buyers please add $5.

For no additional cost, I'm happy to customize the wire lengths to suit your needs.
