mounting a tight fitting seat, ideas and opinions needed. yes I've searched

Coast to Coast
I have seen several threads about mounting a cafe seat. I had every intention of using mounts which would have raised the seat up to almost match the lower line of the tank. However the seat I purchased after modifications just fits over the frame rails and will not clear the extra 1/4 inch required for the brackets like I have seen on here.

The electrical tray overs the area where the seat mount would be so using bottom mount quick release type of mount won;t work.

I am stuck on this seat for the shape. even if I open the seat up I can't get it wide enough to clear the mounting brackets. If I mount it directly to the frame rails and slightly chaired up with washers I could taper the front up to match slightly. Am I stuck with a setup that just won't line up?

Does anyone have pictures or extra ideas to mount this thing up and try to get some sort of alignment? If I mount it high enough for the brackets to work the brackets and frame rails show and look like ass.

You can also tap in through the sides of the seat into the frame rail. Make sure you keep the hole as close as possible to welds/joins as this will cause the least amount of "damage" to the frame.

Velcro it on.
It's not seeing any force when the bikes sitting still, and you're sitting on it when the bikes moving. Industrial Velcro should do the job

No welder unfirtunately. If so I would do a boxed subframe just hugh enough to get it lined up. Damn I need a cheap welder Von.

Sonreir may have the right idea for my needs. How did you support the small area that isn't flush against the frame? also How did you support the center of the seat to keep it from flexing or cracking? The RCC seat is stout yet I wouldn't test it unsupported with my 217 frame. Do you have detailed mounting pictures in your build thread?

I know with the tank I went with I am going to have somewhat of a rough transition to start with. I want to minimize that harsh transition as much as possible.

Thanks for the help guys, keep the information coming please. I knew those of you with more experiance would have some great information and ideas.

flower foam and some fiberglass (www.uscomposites.com) I think you're going to be adding material to anything you get, starting with a stock cafe seat will save you a lot of finishing time, but realistically, starting with a tank like that is going to guarantee you some extra work. If that combination of parts were in my shop, I'd be hot gluing and carving foam to transition the seat to the tank, then laying some glass
