Wow, adjustable trail! Never seen that on telescopic forks ...

Very nice build!

Good luck!

How was finding parts for these things? we picked up this 250 and the little 125 next to it for free under the condition we weren't just going to part them out

Depends on what part you need! Parts can be hard to come by, but if you can cross reference parts you can get by. Things like forks (model specific) are few and far between (and the price reflects that) but there is lots of stuff that is fairly easy to find, and not terribly spendy

Cool, we havn't got to far into it yet but most of it looks in decent shape on the outside

Wow great attention to detail. The gauges look sweet with that green ring. Really pulls everything together.

Got my case half back from the welder, and started putting the engine together. I had to take off some of the bead so the kick starter pawl can move, but it's nice and free now. I can't figure out how the gear shift spring goes back though

Got my wheels laced and trued (first time truing wheels) and new brake pads installed in the front, so that end is all ready to get a tire.

The back brake still needs polishing, but I wanted it out of the living room so I tossed it on the bike temporarily.

Better/more pictures and descriptions tomorrow as it's dark now and I'm a few beers deep, but here is a teaser. She rolls!

Mitey F, wich shocks are those? Can't find a picture in your thread wherei can see them fully. something with YF or what?

First off, Bert; these are the shocks I bought. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170477452324

As for recent work....

The engine went back together, still waiting for some socket head bolts so I can torque the cases and what not. I also polished (poorly) the flywheel/stator cover and the sprocket cover. I'm trying to find one of the fancy double-fold-over-lock-washer things for the nut/gear that goes outside of the rotary valve cover. The top end is at the shop, as there were some inserts coming out of the cylinder, but the head/jug is freshly blasted and looking nice.

Stator needs cleaned and reinstalled (after said case bolts)

Made an oil pump block off plate

Finished polishing hubs, and installed the wheels with some new rubber (still need to put on some weights)

And the forks got powdercoated

Started making/hacking a fender and tomorrow I should be able to finish up the bracket. Whether or not I use it is another question

Tank needs repainted, after a few drops, some masking tape "staying behind" after paint, etc etc.... but for now (until spring when it's warm enough to paint again) I will just run it as is

90% done with running wires

Overall, she's coming along nicely methinks

Finished up my front fender bracket... it took a bit of fitting, the nuts (welded on the underside) sit about 1/4" off the tire...

This was the best way I found to make sure the mounting brackets were straight

Not sure whether I'll run it or not, but it only took a few hours, and now I've got options :)

The only wiring I have left is for the stator, finished up the tail light and dummy light wiring today

Cool idea with the front fender. Having the same problem, your solution got me one step closer!

Small update, new piston/rings arrived, so yesterday after work I put my top end together. Getting cloooosseeeerrr

(sorry about the dark pictures)
