My 77 kz650 cafe/superbike build

I picked up this kz650 on real good deal. Motors stuck. I've stripped a bunch of parts of to allow me to remove the top end. Here's what I've got so far.

Is that oil up top near the plugs? I wonder where that was coming from.

The PO put 2 stroke oil in the plug holes trying to free the pistons.

Put some mx bars on temporarily. Clip ons will be ordered for her. I really like the rear cowl so.i will make a seat to fit nicely

Made a mdf board seat pan that will have fibreglass side trim to carry the line from tank all the way back

So my plans are to detab the triangle area take a torch and a wire brush and stip the paint completely off the frame. Either send it in for powder coating or use a caliper type of paint. Definitely needs to have all the foot controls moved back ( I will make something up for that). The engines needs to be rebuilt and rims painted. Fun for the winter

Got some padding for the seat from a neighbor. The top of the seat will be made from 2 pieces of leather sewn in strip so I can slide the rolled up padding into the strip then attach it to the seat pan over a few layers of yoga mat.

Oh ya I have to make another seat pan that is longer and have to cut the old seat support out.

Got the engine pulled today. Time to clean 30 something years of road dirt off the frame. Detab it and stripped all the paint off
