Shoot - that's some salvage yard!

What year is the engine? Nice to see the older valve covers on the final bike.

The wheels would look awesome in black :) BTW - where did you stash the battery, and how did you shoehorn all the electronics into that tiny headlight, or did you move that stuff too?

its a 79 R65, the valve covers where the first to go, i like the look of the older covers alot more. all the wiring is trimmed way down and it is all under the tank in the stock location, the only thing up in the stock head lamp was wiring for the headlamp and turn markers, its nothing like my kz where it was used as a juction box. the battery in under the tail hump in the back, it is a very small sealed cell battery.

what i cant hear what you said about the exhaust, i still cant hear you my exhaust is to loud. if you want near stock or quite those shorties are not what you want, if you want loud, them are for you. to be honest i may pull them off and run some supertraps under there.

Where'd you get the battery? I need to get one of those for my XS650 project. If you want to see pics of my R75 go to the last page in the Show 'n Shine - mine was the first posting.

Didn't realize the R65 had most of the wiring under the tank. In the R75 there are a couple of relays and other bits and pieces all in the headlight bucket. Would take a lot of work to move all of it.

i work in on heavy truck shop, and the interstate battery guy stops by every week to see if i new some new batteries. told him what i had, and what i wanted in a size of battery. he came back a week later on the route holding a battery that would fit under the tail. i did have to make a little tray that sits down the from the seat rails. it is almost even with the bottom of the rails so you dont even see it there. i then cut a mud defector that was made from heavy black rubber and the battery sits on that along with the tail section.

Cool - if you can post the make/model number of the battery I'd appreciate it (and measurements if you can). Considering the size of the battery in my R75 I wasn't sure a smaller battery would have the power to run the starter on these bikes, and without a kick backup, not having the electric work would be a pain (especially with nobody around to help bump-start).

The XS650 I'm building thankfully has a kickstarter, so the battery won't get used much but still need something, and I'm planning on hiding it. The battery you have can be oriented in any way right? On its side, upside down, etc. etc.?

its a sealed gel type? it is on its side to fit under the low hump. someone else here had a set like this except i believe he had more room because the rear seat hump was taller than mine.

Man... having the wiring under the tank would be a lot easier than having it all stuffed in the bucket... escpecially since I run an S fairing... real pain to work in.

Think I may look around to see if I can run this panel with the appropriate harness bits. ;D

Was thinking about swapping the stock controls for some custom sets anyway... internal cables & wires 8)

Posting the battery specs would be appreciated here as well... I'm one season away from making Mojo a permanent solo ride and moving the battery to the seat is #1 on the list of mods.

i didnt stop and didnt care for where i was at. so the sawzall and weld came back out. had to put the battery back in the stock location but it wont look bad there.

the only thing is i have to wear my jacket with the back protector cuz them stones hurt a little.

Hot Diggity DAMN thats nice!

Any way to run pod filters and put a gell battery in the airbox? Always wanted to go that route but just never got around to it...

If you could find an earlier tranny with the kick-start a smaller battery would do... or upgrade the starter to a newer lower draw one.
