For a cable, you should "hardsolder" it. Using a small gas-torch. A soldering iron won't do the trick (if you want to be safe).fatherjon said:thanks axeugene, i am way excited about the new work space. i am less excited about having to cut and solder my new cables. thats kind of a pain in the butt. but atleast this way i can shorten them a good amount so they work with the clipons. it looks like its going to be a hassel. i dont have any of the right soldering stuff so i will have to get the flux and some 5050 solder. do you know if i can do it with my same old crappy soldering iron or do i need something better than that, if you can point me in the direction of a forum post that would be helpful. im sure there is one already on here, or if you have any good advice on how to do it that would be awesome!
thanks again!

I could spill a gallon of used motor oil on the floor and clean it up... don't try that with raw concrete. Best $250 bux and afternoon I spent in the last 4 years I do think. Even dust and general crap is so much easier to clean up. I see you re already getting some oil spots.
That copper wire heatsink is a good idea, if it is big enough (use many tight windings), 2 pieces of aluminum between the vice is also a good option.fatherjon said:Also I Got my set up for soldering the cables, just wanted to make sure I got the right stuff. I got the little butane torch so I can try and keep the heat mostly on the end, I was thinking of doing a heat sink copper wire to keep the heat from moving to far down the cable. Also I got the silver bearing solder. Acid core. Is that the right stuff?
