Hey guys! New to the forum and to cb's in general. Had the bug to get a cb to build into a cafe for a while, then i went to the manx tt this year and that bug grew to starship trooper proportions and i bought the first one i could drive to. I paid $350 for a seized 400f without carbs. Good lord. Never buying a seized motor again! My first street bike and i buy a seized one thinking "i'm mechanically inclined, it can't be THAT hard, right? Well it was. Anyways got the motor un-seized and dismantled in only 5 days! Now the next question. Big bore kit? Since i have it completely apart is this a good idea. I'm not on too tight a budget. But i would like to riding it soonish. Thanks!
Welcome. Great bikes. Did you work out why it was seized? Sitting outside without carbs in the weather for a while will do it, but there are other potential reasons too.
Good luck - (you might consider starting a build thread in that section of the site!)
Yes the pistons were stuck with sand and other gunk. I let them sit in diesel for 5 days and you can see from the photo the outer 2 weren't letting any solvent through. Now the engine is turning freely.
