My homemade full fairing project

So I have been wanting a full fairing for my bike, but I didn't like the idea of pay hundreds of dollars for one just to cut up and try to make it fit. I'm not sure how this will turn out but I figured I'd give it a shot. This is what I got so far.

Anyone else on the site make their own fairing? I'd like to see pictures of what others have made.

I have not made much progress recently. For some reason I told my wife I would install hardwood floors... Its taking up a lot of my free time. I have put down a couple layers of fiberglass. I still need to do some reinforcing and then I will be able to begin cleaning up the outside. Here are a few pictures I took a couple weeks ago.

Looking good so far! I will be interested to see how things turn out. Might give it a try myself. Greg

Well, the attachment method is still up in the air. I was planning on keeping all the attachments inside to keep it clean, but I think I will end up with domed bolts from the outside. The sides will be easy enough but trying to support the front will be difficult with the fork pivoting inside. I am open to any and all suggestions. Especially ones with pictures!

Search "fairing stay" or "fairing brackets" on EBay. . I'd bet something factory could be easily modified to work.

That is very cool, nice work. I'm planning on doing the same thing with my 350 so I'll be following your progress.

I took some vacation time for the holidays and finally got some work done on the bike. I made a front fairing stay and mounted the fairing to the bike. Then I could finally start cutting the fiberglass down to shape. I am dreading the sanding process so I think I am going to work on the rear sets next.

Wow, I was a little concerned looking at your initial pics but you pulled it off. Nice job! :)

To be honest I was a little concerned too. I almost shelfed the project. I wasn't liking what I was seeing and I didn't want to invest anymore time. My dad convinced me to mount it up and then decide. I'm glad I gave it a little more time.
