Haha, took me a minute to find what you said!

No, I didn't smooth them out. I might, but I didn't really find it necessary.

That's really cool, any tips on carbs? I've been thru the carbs on a honda cb400f, figure half as many & easier to get to. It ran well once I got it started, pretty smooth for sitting for a while & scored this for $4.99 on eBay:

Cleaned up real nice, Jardine 2 into 1! I'm going thru photo's now, will put up more pics on Projects soon.

Nice bike! did the bike came with the belt drive or you converted it? Not really a big fan of clubman bars on a cafe bike, but it looks awesome on your hard tail bobber specially with the high mounted peanut tank. Looks very nice!

A lot of the Kawasakis came with belt drive from the factory, mostly cruisers but a few sportbikes and standards as well(Some KZ400s,440,500,750,1100 etc). Kawasaki probably used more belt drives on more bikes than any of the other "Big Four" manufacturers. They were belt drive when belt drive wasn't cool! 8)

There are places that sell the drive conversions or you may be able to convert a chain to belt from a similar bike if you have all the parts for the belt drive bike. Internal gearing may be different though on the belt drive bikes?

One problem that was seen with the belts was that it's harder/more expensive to do gearing changes and they weren't seen as a hi-performance addition to the machine. That's why most were used on cruisers because cruiser owners were less likely to change their gearing or take long touring rides and thus complain or not buy a belt equipped bike. Plus almost ANY shop has a chain on hand as they are universal, but to get a belt for you Kawasaki you HAD to go to a dealer and probably order the one just for your bike. Not good if your hundreds of miles from home and the only shop in the area only sells chains!

Here is a very good site for anyone interested in a KZ400: http://www.kz400.com/Technicaltips.htm

So today I was out cruising around in my friends warehouse parking lot and I found out how easy it is to drag the pegs.... So yeah, maybe rear sets are in the future. :p
