Our story begins with a 1980 Yamaha SR 250. It was complete when I got it, but I began taking pictures after I started taking parts off of it.

After I cut up the handlebars and playing wit a position I might like

I'll be going to the shop tomorrow to do some other things to it, and probably going to get an RD 400 tank to stick on there.

I forgot to take the camera to the shop with me, so I took pictures after I got back. Most of the day was spent test fitting various things on the bike (handlebars, foot pegs, fenders, etc.) But Doug (my mentor of sorts) and I cut some stuff off and moved some things around and here's what we have so far.

Let me know what you guys think... I think it's starting to look a little more like it's Bobbed, but I have confidence it'll turn out how I want.

Looking to get a RD400 tank... or some other mid sized tank with knee indents. I thought I would be further along on the project, but I have many other projects going on, this one kinda got set to the side. Time to put more focus on the bike... More pictures coming soon.

not spliting hairs or any thing but it isnt an rs250 its an sr250. I am doing the same project at the moment

YES! I can finally start working on this bike again!
I ordered some new handlebars, bar end mirrors, new grips, and some odds and ends I need to get it running.
I just need to build a seat, get a tank, fabricate the rearsets, pour some gas in it, and I'm off (then I need to tear it all apart and have it painted and powder coated).

I need a tank though (rd400, gsx450, or a gs 1100 tank will be perfect)

Glad to see youre back at it.
A gs1100 tank may be HUGE on this bike. Just a thought, but Id stick to tanks from smaller twins.

This would look SWEET:

Feel free to tell me to shut my trap by the way!

I agree with the gs1100 tank being HUGE, and I'm really liking that rd350 tank... and the xs360 looks pretty sweet as well. Thanx for the suggestions.

Any time man. I love a squareish tank on a cafe bike personally. Makes it look long and aggressive. Round, teardrop tanks are too organic in shape. Thats just me though.

I agree. I like longer boxy tanks, they make an ordinarily tame bike look like a pissed off hornet... That steep rise of the tank off the front of the seat just sells it for me.

im the opposite i like the tear drop tanks more so than the square tank so it realy comes to personal preference

Well, it finally stopped raining, so I can start working on my bike again.

I bought a whole bunch of stuff for it (bars, levers, perches, speedo, tires, tach, fork seals, tank, grips mirrors, etc.) I need to get some rearsets and fabricate some mounts, and I'll be close to being to finished... Then I get to take the whole damn thing apart so I can paint and polish everything.

I'll post some pics when I start working again.
