1975 Honda CB550
While it never seems to be done, it's getting there.
it's a '75 cb550 with a lot of parts from Benji's cafe reacer (.com)
I'm looking for a sator cover, anyone have any ideas.

BCR tanks look awesome. However, fiberglass tanks always freak me out. I mean I'm not sure how much modern gasoline cuts into the resin, and if you ever drop it, it's as dangerous as it gets. Then again, I've heard the same thing about alloy tanks.

That bike is awsome. I'd like to see some closer pics of the upholstered seat.

The Benji prices aren't all that bad for what one gets. If I were slapping a full tank of fuel across the pavement, a sparky metal tank would scare me. A GRP tank would be just as scary, but in a different way.

DUDE!!! I am having Benjie build me a tank/tail combo right now for my CB450 and I photoshopped up that side profile of YOUR BIKE to show him what I want. I am getting the same "dolphin" tank as you but I am having him modify the tail a little from how yours is.

Is that the fiberglass tail or a metal one? I have to go metal so that I can locate the battery/electronics under it.... he said the fiberglass version doesn't have enough room.

Your 550 is sweet... major inspiration for me.

Welcome to the board!

thanks, I'll try and put some more shots up when i get them off my other computer.
the tank debate was a good one. I found this product in the US, it keeps the tank stable
from gas eating away at it.
you can get the stuff here (novolac):
http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/epoxygas.htm
be warned your arms will get tired moving the tank around while the stuff dries.
(get a tank buddy if you do it)
but lets be honest, there's way scarier things about riding a bike in Toronto than your
gas tank exploding. the QEW for instance...

thanks woody,

The whole thing is fiberglass, right to the tail.
I'm in the process of making side covers to fit over the battery. (it's going to look like a cheese grater)
it should look good. Although if I could have fit it (the battery) under the tail, I would have.

good luck with it.

Your side covers sound cool... can't wait to check them out.

When I told Benjie that I was pretty much dead-set on putting the battery under the tail he told me that I would have to have a metal tail made and that it would cost me an extra $95... which I think is a great deal. Since he is making me the metal tail it isn't costing any more to modify it a bit so I am having it shortened up a hair and making it a touch taller... can't wait to see it.

But your side-profile shot of your bike is what convinced me to go with Benjie's... it looks awesome!

Looks great - what rear shocks are those? They look pretty serious.

Dude,very sweet bike !
The tank and seat are great of course, but I love the tapered cone mufflers on it. I normally don't like side covers on bikes, but i agree the battery needs covered somehow.

points to woody, they're works perf. shocks
I have found a pair of ohlins to put on it but I'm not sure if I like the look as much.
(not too mention the price)
I'm making the side covers now. i think it will look good. it looks good in my head anyway.
but then so did my ex wife at one point.

Great lookin CB !

I'm currently working on a 79CB650 change over to a Cafe myself and after that I have two ther CB650 customs that I'm not sure but maybe a chopper conversion ??

Did you buy your seat or fabricate it your yourself?
