My motorcycle.

i would say somewhere around 4 - 5g... i personally would not sell it with all the extra parts, if you are getting spare parts with a bike it sugests that you may need them! whoever buys this bike is not going to want to wrench on it, only ride it... you will get more $ for the bike if you sell that and then ebay the leftover parts

Yah I never really thought of it like that. It's very true. Thanks for the input man. Still looking for some time to take pictures of the seat for you. Information I posted provide any help?

Very cool build, but I feel compelled to weigh in with my past experience with feeding a twin with a single carb. I have an ultralight engine that required me to slightly angle the carb (about 15-20 degrees) where it attached to the stock 1 into 2 intake manifold. It ended up causing me to sieze up the two stroke engine due to one cylinder getting a different mixture than the other. It showed slightly on the plugs and if I had dual egt guages, I am sure it would have shown up there. I doubt you will do any damage to your 4-stroke engine from this, but I would bet money that if you check exhaust gas temperatures on both cylinders, your left one is getting less air/fuel mix than the right which at various load/flow conditions can result in different mixture ratios. That said, I am not doubting that the bike seems to run OK, but I am very confident that your two cylinders are not receiving equal quantities of fuel/air mixture at various rpms and loadings.

So you attached the seat to the pan how? As in it's glued, riveted, stapled? I'm finishing up my seat soon, and though it's an aluminum pan, I was thinking glue/adhesive wouldn't be able to stick as well as I would like due to the moisture down in Miami here and the vibrations of seat on frame, so I plan to put a few well placed rivets in. Just curious how yours is attached.

I'm happy to see another XS650, I've been riding my build for a few months and have been smiling ever since the first ride. Your ride looks awesome and I like the seat. If you decide to build them, I'd be interested in one. I've been seeking a seat for my build and yours is just the ticket. How does it run with the one carb? Could you make a intake for a dual setup? I will probably tear my down this winter and clean her up more. Just when I thought I was done with mine, LOL.

Hancock, you are probably right. But years of growing up around old stupid domestic four wheel machines has impacted me. Me and my father were talking about this and we decided it would not be workable on a 2 stroke, as he's got a little RD125 with problem carbs. As a whole, I am not worried about the mixtures. For good measure though, I will go and get a infrared temp thing and check the outside of the pipes after running. Sure, it's not 100% positive, but I'm not stuffing dual EGT's into the exhaust piping. But I'll say this, I've dealt with carbs that were unhappy or not playing nice with the one next to it, and this bike does not ride like it. For whatever that is worth.

Seat, the cover is teck screwed into the underside of the pan. I promise, today, I'll get some pictures of it off the bike. And it'll all make sense.

cretin, as mentioned above, it runs very well with one carb. I'll try to get some video of it so you guys can see what I mean. I think that is the only way I can truly send this message about how the bike runs. And when you ask about making an intake for a dual setup, what do you mean by that? One like I built for mine? Or something else? And pertaining to the seat. I might be able to make one up. Sort of a difficult thing as mine was made specifically for the bike, fits it absolutely perfect and I'm not 100% sure if it would work for you. But I could build something similar for you most likely...keep you updated..

is that a redbull catchcan?!

You bet your ass it is! ;D Pabst cans covering the coils, and Red Bull to collect the sludge. Pretty much the two liquids that fueled that build. Thought it would be good to pay homage to them..

And thanks Rawfish! Glad you dig it.

sclauy, my xs650 is a 1981 Special. I bet your seat would fit. As for the intake, I was inquiring about one that would accomodate both carbs. Keep me posted on a seat. I have the original cover from my stock seat if you would need it to make a seat for my bike. If not, keep me in mind for a black style seat. You bike rocks...

beautiful yammy. just beautiful. I have a question on the honda tho.

What brand/type 2-1 is that? and did you need to rejet after you put it on? I'm looking for a 2-1 for my 360 without having to rejet hopefully :)
TIA

beautiful bike! very classy! the rocketeer was one of my favorites as a kid too. i'd love to get a jacket like he wears lol

can you add me to the seat list? i'm having an impossible time trying to find seat info/sources for an '81 special!

I love this bike more and more!

Where did you source the stubby little shocks? I just picked up a second xs650, this one has spoked rims like yours.

How many mounting points to you have for the rear fender? I see the bolt on the hoop, are there any others? Is it the stock fender?

i have a yamaha sr 500 2j4... and i was thinking to put this tires on that you have on the xs..i can see its firestone..but whats the model?
