i feel very lucky to have picked up this little blue wonder. wooohooooo the original sales receipt was under the seat! life will be very good for the next few months whilst i clean her up and make sure she will run. the compression is awesome, but i havent put a gauge on it yet. i pulled off the carbs and one slide is stuck. here she is in all her glory.

Re: my new XS360 with 3000 OG miles!

Cool man! The 360 is a cool little bike. Congrats on the find!

Nice! Dig the color and the disc/spoke combo! Looks to be in great condition. What are your plans for her?

thanks guys! i havent really put much thought into a plan. im thinking drag bars and just driving it for awhile until i feel inspired to do more. have the carbs pulled out now and soaking, cant wait to get her running. parts for these are hard to come by it seems...

I've got a '77 360 that I'm working on (at a snail's pace), and a donor 400. I'll likely build the 400 motor down the road, and I'm going to use the wheels and brake parts for the 360. Doesn't look like she needs much, but I'd be happy to help out with any parts I won't be using.

well since you mentioned it, i seem to have a cracked diaphragm on my slide and the slide isnt in great shape as it was stuck and someone tried to get it unstuck with a screwdriver. so im looking for one slide with the diaphragm. whats funny is, i run the carb under hot water for a minute and it came unstuck.

whatever you do, replace that damn vaccuum actuated petcock piece of garbage! My old roomate and fellow DTTer had the same bike and the number one problem was the petcock. Just take it off and put a gravity feed in, it'll save you much blood, sweat, and tears.

oh, and nice score, they are cool bikes!

i didnt know yamaha made a 360, i wonder whos was better the honda or yah?

yeah they do, they came out with it to compete with honda's. they only made em for two years. i really like this xs360, but i might be partial since ive put a lot of work into it. i would be interested to hear as well. ive owned both now, just havent had a chance to really ride this one yet.

Nice Dan! Looking forward to seeing where you go with this bike.
thanks h7, do you have a thread in show and shine or the project section. would love to follow yours as well. im still in the clean up phase, but will hopefully be ordering tires soon.
anyone clean out a tank that is rusty as hell and has flaking tank liner? im thinking about cutting the bottom out to get to it, but am afraid ill still ruin the paint on the tank.

DAN i guess you will be able to provide this info and compare once up and runing. Any recalls on the yamahas?

The Honda is kind of a turd compared to the 350. Its good enough bike overall, but has issues with oiling, and burning itself up. Parts are getting a little harder to come by as well. That said... As proven by several members here, you can build a really badass scoot out of one. Just takes time, money, and an understanding of their faults. Theres a reason they only made the 360 for a few years. All together though, its a Honda, so its obviously a better bike than the XS. ;)

yeah it will be interesting to see which one i like better. im not sure of any recalls myself. ive been reserching as much as possible, but there just isnt much info on the xs360.

well ive been working on her pretty hard lately. i put on clip ons, ordered a seat, working on new rearsets and doing a 2-1 carb conversion. the weather here is perfect for riding so im having a hard time tearing into something time consuming right now.
