Need GS1000 fuel line routing help

Been Around the Block
Hey everyone!

I just picked up a 1978 Suzuki GS1000. When i grabbed it, the carbs were off, and the tank didnt have a petcock. I now have a petcock on it and the main 5/16in fuel line hooked up to the T between carbs 2 and 3. However, there are smaller hoses coming off carbs 2, 3 and 4 that i have no idea where they go. Theres also a matching nipple on the pet cock, but its only one.

Anyone have one of these bikes that can take a picture and show me where everything goes?

Mines disassembled at this point so I'm not exactly sure. I'm guessing those hoses are for vacuum going to the tank. Ask on thegsresouces.com and they give you a quick answer.

they are float bowl vents, venting to atomsphearic pressure is required
the nip on the petcock goes to manifold signal, anywhere downstream of a carb slide

Yep - as XB said they are carb bowl breather / vents. DONT PLUG THEM UP or connect them together - they need to be open (route the hoses down along with the drain hoses to behind the gearbox).

And the smaller nipple on the fuel tap is a vaccum - there should be corresponding nipples on the intake rubbers for carb balancing. Plug it into one of those.

Are they all supposed to have suction? Also, one source i read said to route the tube on carb 3 to the petcock.

They mean the tube off the inlet manifold on carb 3. There should be a cap on 3 of the manifolds - the one missing is were the vacuum hose goes. It can be any manifold - just swap the caps over.

there is no nipple of the intake boot of carb 3. This is a 77 GS1000 with the Vm26 carbs if that helps

Also, the vent tube on carb 4 has suction, but none of the others do. Super weird.

Looks like ill be pulling the carbs again anyways as they are leaking fuel pretty badly. Also the exhaust is kicking out some white smoke...yay!
