It required many stages. First I had to grind off the gouges and reshape a little with 120 grit in an air tool. I progressed with wet sanding with 220, 320, 400, 600, 800 paper. Then I buffed with a high speed bench buffer using emery, followed by rouge.
My buffer is a little underpowered but adequate. It is a 3,600 RPM 6" buffer from Harbor Freight.
