This is a very ghetto build and could possibly offend people and sorry in advance but to each their own.
Im rushing to have this finished for march 25 appmotojam is having their snow hill climb event that I can't wait to take this too. Last event I blew up my kd80 the week of, blown motor and seized trans :/
What's going on, my name is Rob I have a 1970 honda cl175 I got as a wedding present from my cousin(I was planning on buying it after the wedding) so I lucked out with that..Anyway he had it for years just sitting and I talked to my uncle trying to find out if it ever ran. He was like yeah but it seemed to run on one cylinder..I was like great I just got a piece of garbage. Once I got it to my house first thing was oil change, drain gas and spark plugs. That's when I discovered that one plug boot wasn't connected all the way, put new plugs in and oil charged the battery started right up then died shortly after.
I took the carbs apart only to find out both float bowls where Jb welded covering the screw port to check if you have fuel. Then the previous owner tried sealing the tank and let the stuff go through the carbs and on top of that the one float had a pin hole in it and both where out of adjustment..I went online and found a company called wincycles and bought two brand new carbs (they come pre set and tuned for factory settings) I still need to fine tune them since I have pod filters and chopped exhaust currently. (I know everyone hates that) I am planning on re jetting them but I don't know what size to run so that's where I'm at with that. I adjusted the air fuel mixture along with idle to make it a tad richer since it was bogging and backfiring as if it was lean no black smoke. I do have an owners manual which I am reading as I go.
Besides that junk, next was the wiring...my god I took the headlight off along with the controls on the handle bars, I'm sure you honda guys know the wiring runs through the handle bars. What a mess, the previous owner before my cousin used three different wiring harness for it..wires twisted together and connected with wire nuts. Once it was apart and out back together it wouldn't start even with the same wiring setup they had.
When I took the controls off they fell apart in my hand I said screw it since its going to be a weekend field bomber/hill climber I just deleted everything besides the headlight. I bought a universal push start and mounted it in the tool box (ill get pictures of it) the kill switch doesn't even work I just shut it off with the key.
So for now it runs and starts with the aftermarket button.
I cut the fenders along with the seat because it was rotting at the half way point. I cut that in half and rewrapped it. It looks horrible I don't do upholstery haha. This week if everything goes as planned ill be picking up dirt bike tires for this pig. I'm hoping to run 3.5 rear and 3 up front. (Hopefully tomorrow) I will try to get it updated as much as I can and I will get more photos because you know that's what you're here for right? Well I am sure I'm missing a lot of stuff but here are some photos of my juicer
The day I picked it up - I apologize for the scrappy photos, I took them from my old phone (I took a picture of my phone because I couldnt send them to my new phone)
Some horrible wiring photos
Sitting in the hoarding garage haha
Stripped down a little
I also cut the rear pegs off since I won't be riding with anyone. These are some where you can see I started cutting the fenders and seat for some test fitting
This is before I cut down the frame, you might notice the cut in some other photos
Cut muffler and frame slighlty
Wiring mess to add the new push button
This was the mock up to make sure it still worked
Then I thought about mounting the kd80 seat but decided not to
Instead I used the stock seat I hacked up
Then I added this little light visor. It is from a kobalt magnetic tray lid. It was laying on the ground and I was like I wonder if this would fit...haha
Now currently how it sits as of today
Thanks for looking and hopefully I didn't offend you
