New Ace Arrived

Hopefully the remains of the screw will come out and you can get out there in this sunshine :) - good luck .

Well the second bolt has just snapped trying to undo it. Lost all confidence in the clip on now. Busy looking for some different ones. Found some on flea bay so sent a best offer as they are pretty expensive but really think i'd rather have to spend some money and have the confidence in them.

Sorry to hear that , those allen screws must be very poor to snap like that ?

At least with simple steel ones like these the screws are easily replaced http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STEEL-CLIPONS-27MM-SES-MADE-PERFECT-FOR-CLASSICS-/270829279971?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3f0eaedae3

Well had my first ride out on my Ace today, I've not grinned so much since i had my monkey bike. I still have a few jobs to do to finish it properly but i couldn't resist as the sun was out. I have sacked the alloy clip ons and gone for some steel ones. When i took the left bar off only one came out, the other one rounded off so had to drill it out to get the bar off the fork leg, bolts seem to be very poor quality. New bars are not adjustable so its not the most comfortable riding position, might have to have a rethink about the bars. I could get away with them but not sure about my good lady. Apart from being a bit uncomfortable all seems well though, even managed 60mph ;D I will post some pictures when she's all done and try put a video on (no idea how)

i had replace Ooracing clip on bar with this one at a fairly reasonable price, and also replace the socket cap allen bolt that came with it with A2 stainless steel socket cap allen bolt instead. I think the tensile strength is much better than the stock ones, lubrication with WD40 also makes a great deal of difference when tightening the bolt.

And it clamps on the front fork fairly well now.
