Just checking in to say Hey!
Recently I acquired an 64 Honda S90 with (get this) 214 Original-Off the Show Room Floor Miles.
The previous owner was an absolute hack and really screwed up a lot of stuff both mechanically and cosmetically.
Nothing major – Just stupid stuff. Some people should not own tools.
None the less, after seeing what was done to external components I decided that before I try to kick this little gem over I better do some investigation.
The engine had perfect compression but all the cover plates had obviously been removed and the intake was striped on one side and the bolt sheared on the other.
So I wanted to look even further and pulled the whole top end.
The cylinder, pistons, rings and cams are not even broken in. It’s beautiful.
The rebuild kit and missing components arrive this week and I can put her back together.
The S90 was the start of something different.
My GF hung out with me, helped me and asked a lot of questions about the bike, mechanical components and generally interested in “how stuff works”.
She wasn’t afraid to get her finger nail polished chipped and grease under her finger nails.
A few day later she asked “can we get another one for me”?
Of course, that resulted in a shit eating grin on my side of the table.
Long story short, we aren’t getting her an S90.
Last Sunday I drove to Whidbey Island, WA where I purchased a 76 year old retired engineers entire scrap pile and bone yard for under $300 (the purchase also included a custom built engine stand and a couple motorcycle stands).
The entire bundle includes two CL 350 frames and complete motors, an extra re-built head, and an SL350 frame with running gear.
Its going to be a long project but the little lady wants to build her own Bobber and I am getting a little Café bike.
I don’t anticipate “Doing the Ton” on these little rascals but the journey will be epic – we should be ridding buy spring.
