new bikes for possible cafe

Mortikan

Coast to Coast
SO, I was looking at getting a new low cost bike.
The number one runner right now to do into a cafe is the 2011 suzuki tu250. it's list is around 3700 and it has real good potential. I have a 650 and I have been thinking of getting rid of my vespa. I hate to do it but I need to be practical and having two old bikes is not good.
I need something just as a basic commuter. for most part I have a 2 1/2 mile commute to and from work I ocassionally work second job 10 miles away 5 exits on highway but, I like small displacement bikes. I think it can do a few exits on the highway no issue. looks like top end is 75 before I start doing a little tweeking.

I like it's good lines any thoughts?

all the reviews i have read say that it will cruise at basic highway speeds. you may find that because its so light, that if a truck passes you, that the wind wash will blow you around a fair bit though.

you can't complain about the price I just looked it 3999.

I happen to go to rice-o-rama last year and as I was leaving i saw an 09 (not sure why they did not make them in 2010 probable not much call for these things) and the kid was starting to do cafe treatment to it. had a nice bolt on pipe and clipon's and took off rear seat so it was a solo. did bar end mirrors.
I would do bar end signals and eliminate fronts and rears I saw a real cool headlight bucket had brass ring with black bucket. I like the round rear tail light but maybe could do fiberglass bump stop. I will make decission in next few months if anyone sees anything else let me know

Check Out Cleveland Cycle Werks Misfit, Available in April. Would make a cool little cafe and is about 800 cheaper than the SUZUKI. New company but i think the motor has been used in their first bike for a few years so you could reasearch the reliability.

Cheers

My friends shop has a TU250 lightly used. Like a few miles on the clock used. You could probably score a nice deal on it. The shop is in Cleveland. Where are you at?

That's cool. Turns out it was a TW200 anyway. Still a cool little bike but not really for a Cafe.

Oh and Mortikan there is a member on here who is modding a TU. he is kind of going half Cafe half tracker I think. I haven't seen a post lately though. The TU is a nice little bike and it has been out for years in Japan. there is a huge aftermarket parts supply out of japan for all the mods you could think of. Google will show you some cool shit on it. There also was a US tuner that did a silver and Blue Cafe of one for the US market launch in 09.

Cheers.
